Current Volunteer Programs:

Known for its beautiful beaches, lush jungles, and laid back culture, Costa Rica is consistently a top choice for eager globe trotters. Are you inspired to teach English, empower and share your talents with local children, lead sports program, or help beautify and improve the local area? Our program empowers volunteers to gain professional and personal experience while also helping people living in a low-income community.

  • English Teaching
Teaching English abroad is the perfect way to gain valuable experience teaching English as a foreign language while exploring new countries. This is a great opportunity for experienced teachers as well as college students and any aspiring teachers who want to gain more work experience in education. WeVOL partners with the local public schools to teach preschool, primary, and high school kids. In addition, WeVOL runs an Adult English school. Volunteers can choose the age group and English ability level they prefer to teach.
  • Sport Leadership

As a sports coach in Costa Rica, your main focus will be to assist local staff at a school. The specific activities you do can very, but can include the following:

    • Assist a local teacher during school Physical Education classes
    • Assist local youth soccer league for girls and boys
    • Organize games and activities for the children to promote fitness, health, and well-being
    • Design original sports practice and routines
  • Community Development
Immerse yourself in a Costa Rican community while supporting our long-term projects and experience a unique opportunity to live and work with local families. WeVOL volunteers will be contributing to both construction and renovation projects, working in the surrounding communities and living in picturesque Matapalo beach. Current projects include playground renovation, designing and building a sidewalk to public school, and more.
